An Amble Around Old Alloway is a 2 mile stroll around the historic village of Alloway that is steeped in the history of Robert Burns, the local bard.
The trails starts and finishes in the National Trust car park for Burns Cottage. Parking is generally free. It is not entirely suitable for prams and wheel chairs as it it involves uneven ground, narrow paths and steps. However, a slightly shorter (1.5 miles), alternative route is clearly marked in the booklet, providing access for wheels! The trails takes you around the village centre and will lead you through Poets Path, Burns Birthplace museum and gardens, Burns Monument Gardens, Alloway Parish Church, Auld Kirk and Old Railway line (not accessible for all). Have a fun-filled time as you solve the clues!

When Can You Do the Trail?
The trail can be completed anytime during business opening hours for Burns Birthplace Museum (10 -5) and Burns Monument Gardens (10-5 in summer/ 10-4 in winter). There are toilet facilites at the Burns Birthplace Museum! You can have coffee/cake/lunch at Poet's Corner Cafe in the village centre or at Burn Birthplace Museum. The trail can be completed in 2-3 hours or you can make a whole day of it by enjoying the sights along the way!

£10.99 to download. You can then print it off yourself or use on a hand held device. However, the trail is not interactive and you will have to note your answers down elsewhere.
