The Whithorn Story

South West Coastal 300

History buffs won’t want to leave Whithorn; it’s so rich with traces of the past. Get to grips with the origins of Christianity in Scotland and tales of St Ninian and pilgrims at the Whithorn Story. There are fascinating finds from archaeological digs to see, an ancient priory and, lying just outside the village, a reconstructed Iron Age roundhouse. It’s well worth venturing to the coastline to visit the Isle of Whithorn too, a tiny village sat on a peninsula that’s as pretty as a postcard. Only four miles away, the historic village was once a hub for smugglers and played a significant role in the shipping trade.
